Lilac Cana: A Winter Serenade at the BAEC
The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. Classical Concert Series Program is proud to present a dynamic, versatile and award-winning Filipino-Canadian Lilac Cana in a mid-winter concert entitled “A Winter Serenade” at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center’s Sampaguita Ballroom on Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 3:00 in the afternoon. Guest artists will include our very own baritone Vic Omila, Jr. and pianists David martinez III and Nhick Ramiro Pacis. “A Winter Serenade” will be a cozy afternoon of Philippine kundimans and folk songs, opera and Broadway favorites and popular tunes.
Lilac Cana is a Canadian producer,and recording artist with seven CD albums, who inspires people worldwide with her music. An honours graduate of the University of Toronto Opera Performance Program, and a scholarship recipient with the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, she also trained extensively in classical, musical theatre and contemporary music styles with some of the world’s best vocal coaches. Her performance career highlights include four years with the Canadian Opera Company Chorus, lead roles in opera and music theatre productions and concert soloist engagements with orchestras and choirs in Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Philippines.
Guest baritone Vic Omila was a member of the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus and presently sings with the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Choir and cantors at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ybor City. Pianist David Martinez is currently furthering his studies in piano at the University of South Florida and is the music director at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinellas Park. Composer/arranger Nhick Ramiro Pacis is the resident music director of PCFI, directing the Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble. He is also the music director at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Admission to “A Winter’s Serenade” is $10.00, children 7 and under, free.
The Classical Concert Series Program, chaired by PCFI board member Olivia Santiano, features Filipino-American artists and other performers in the Tampa Bay Area and other locations. Other artists who have performed in this program include violinist Brent Taghap, Michael del Rosario, pianist David Martinez III, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, St. Petersburg College’s Madrigalians and others. The Classical Concert Series Program is just one of PCFI’s cultural events under the foundation’s Philippine Music, Theater, Dance and Art Program. PCFI’s cultural programs are presently under the directorship of Joey Omila.
