The Association of Filipino Students at the University of South Florida – Tampa (USF-Tampa) is a student run, multicultural organization that celebrates the Filipino culture! We are a growing organization that promotes the Filipino Culture among students while having fun at the same time. AFS is open to anyone as long as you are willing to make new friends and have a great time!
Alumni can attest that they have made long lasting friendships through AFS. Members come together, for meetings, social activities, intramural sports, and Filipino community events. The members of AFS have also organized themselves to address the issues and concerns that affect them both on and off campus. AFS exists to encourage academic achievement to promote social interaction and to raise cultural, political, and community awareness among its members and also to the outside community.
We promote the Ate-Kuya-Ading (AKA) program, a mentorship opportunity wherein you are paired with a big/mentor (ate/kuya) or a little/mentee (ading). The relationships made out of this mentorship program have been proven to last a long time, even past college!
We also have a dance team called Forging a Movement (FaM). We are a competitive modern dance team and we compete at the University of Florida’s Filipino Student Association’s Def Talent Jam during the Fall, and at PCFI’s PhilFest over spring.

2015 marks 25 years of AFS! And to commemorate that, we are having a 25th Year Anniversary Banquet! This is in collaboration with Gawad Kalinga, our philanthropy, which is an organization that seeks to eradicate poverty in the Philippines!
