ARTE On-the-Spot Art Competition 2015
The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) is organizing the second “On-The-Spot Art Competition” on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at the Philippine Village (aka PhilFest Grounds) at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive in Tampa, Florida to recognize and encourage artistic talents from the community at large and also promote the beautiful culture of the Philippines and develop camaraderie among all talented artists in the Tampa Bay Area.
Cash prizes are in store for the winners of the two categories, Youth (13-18 years old) and Adult (19 years and above). Selected entries from the participants will be presented at the cultural exhibit at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center during PhilFest 2015 from April 10 to 12. The winners will also be awarded on April 12 at the Sinagtala Aditorium of the PhilFest Grounds on April 12.
The public, friends and families are welcome to attend free of charge.
Who May Participate
This competition is open to all artists of any nationality and skill level to be divided into the following age categories:
Youth Category for participants 13-18 years old
Adult Category for participants 19 years old and above
Competition Theme: Philippine Culture
Subject and models will be provided on the day of the on-the-spot competition.
Artists may concentrate on any aspect of the subject: costumes, faces, individual or as a group, facades or interior or self-expression based on the subject.
Medium
Medium to be used can be any of or combination of the following: crayons, watercolor, oil, acrylic, graphite, ball point pen or pencils. Digital art not accepted.
Minimum canvas/board size for the art work is 20″x30″.
All materials, including canvasses, easels small tables and other equipment must be provided by the contestants. We can only provide folding chairs.
Exhibit and Competition Results
Selected entries will be chosen by qualifiedjudges and will be placed on exhibit at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center during PhilFest 2015 from April 10 to 12. The winners will be announced at the end of the competition and will be awarded on Sunday, April 12th during PhilFest.
Prizes
Youth Category: US$300
Adult Category: US$500
All winning entries will automatically become property of the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. Other entries must be claimed at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center before Friday, May 1, 2015 or will automatically become property of PCFI.
Criteria
Entries will be judged according to the following criteria:
Composition (30%), Technique (40%),
Use of Theme (30%) for a total of 100%.
All entries will be judged by a panel of judges composed of artists and experts on Philippine art and culture.
Decision of the judges is final.
Registration
All interested participants must pre-register online by filling out the online registration form at www.pcfitampa.org/arte-2015 before Friday, March 20, 2014 at 5PM.
Pre-registered participants will be required to register at the
competition venue from 8:30 AM to 9AM on the competition day.
Competition will start at 9:00AM. Work must be finished by 4:00 PM to allot time for judging.
