Bamboo and Strings 2017
The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. presents “Bamboo and Strings 2017” featuring the Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:00PM at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626.
Now on its fifth year in this concert format, “Bamboo and Strings” will be conducted by Nhick Ramiro Pacis with the following guest artists: Philippine Choral Group conducted by Connie Chanrasmi, Philippine Performing Arts Company, Inc. directed by Joey Omila, Indak Pambata directed by Judy Sibayan, baritone Vic Omila, Jr., Tawag ng Tanghalan 2017 winner Joy Gann, and pianist Nora Avanzado from Chicago, Illinois. Supporting the Musikong Kawayan are members of the Florida Orchestra: violinist Vivek Jayaraman, violinist Linda Hall, violist Alison Heydt, cellistr James Connors, double bassist John DiMura and pianist Fred Gratta.
The Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble is one of the resident performing groups of the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. and is part of the foundation’s Music, Art, Theater and Dance Program. Musikong Kawayan has provided close to fifteen years of performing around the Tampa Bay Area, thanks to the support of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners.
The “Bamboo and Strings 2017” program will consist of original compositions and arrangements of Nhick Ramiro Pacis which include Filipino ethnic, folk and popular songs and traditional and popular American favorites. Nhick is PCFI’s assistant cultural director and in-house music director.
Tickets to “Bamboo and Strings 2017” are all priced at $10 per person and children 6 years and under are free. However, additional donations are most welcome!
