Bamboo and Strings Music at the BAEC!
The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. in Tampa, Florida is proud to present the Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble in a concert entitled “Bamboo and Strings” on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 3:00PM at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center.
The eleven-year-old Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble is a 30-member angklung ensemble directed by PCFI’s resident music director and composer, Nhick Ramiro Pacis. With the help of the Hillsborough Arts Council, the group has been offering a very unique sound to the Tampa Bay Area audience and surrounding counties with performances at AsiaFest, Florida Folk Festival, SPIFFS and other venues. It also offers free angklung classes at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center.
This concert will be one-of-a-kind as the ensemble will be playing with a string quintet consisting of the Bayside String Quartet, Sandy Kitts (violin 1), Elizabeth Kitts (violin 2), Sam Headlee (viola) and Rebecca Bialoski (cello), bassist John DiMura and pianist Dale Williams, all members of the Florida Orchestra.
Guest performers also include PCFI’s very own Philippine Choral Group, conducted by Connie Chanrasmi, and the Philippine Performing Arts Company, Inc., directed by Joey Omila. PPAC and PCG are also resident performers of the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc.
Tickets to “Bamboo and Strings” are at $10.00, children 6 and under, free.
