Barrio Fiesta 2015
The Pilipino American Association of Tampa Bay, Inc. (PAAT), in cooperation with the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) bring you “Barrio Fiesta and Santacruzan 2015″ at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center on Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm.
For $5 admission, one is taken to a Philippine Barrio Fiesta. This event replicates a typical town or barrio festival in rural Philippines – abundance of food, non-stop music entertainment, native (and culturally acquired) games for all ages and a variety of merchandise for shopping for an total immersive experience. The “Santacruzan”, the highlight of the event, is a parade presenting muses from the community. This is derived from a Philippine May-event, a religious pageant towards the end of “Flores de Mayo”, where the prominent ladies in town parade in the streets representing various titles of the Virgin Mary in honor of Helena of Constantinople (known as Reyna Elena) and Constantine the Great.
The Bayanihan Arts and Events Center is located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa FL 33626. For more information about “Barrio Fiesta 2015” please contact Abby at (813) 817-1905, Lynn at (727) 458-2177, Agnes at (813) 731-7430 or Aurora at (813) 390-8476.
