Barrio Fiesta and Santacruzan 2016
The Pilipino American Association of Tampa Bay, Inc. (PAAT), in cooperation with the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) bring you “Barrio Fiesta and Santacruzan 2016″ at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center on Sunday, August 14, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm. Admission to “Barrio Fiesta” is $5.00 and free for children 5 years and under.
“Barrio Fiesta” is a mini-PhilFest that replicates a town or barrio festival in rural Philippines – abundant food, non-stop music entertainment, native (and culturally acquired) games for all ages and a variety of merchandise for shopping for an total immersive experience. The “Santacruzan”, the highlight of the event, is a parade presenting muses from the community. This is derived from a Philippine May-event, a religious pageant towards the end of “Flores de Mayo”, where the prominent ladies in town parade in the streets representing various titles of the Virgin Mary in honor of Helena of Constantinople (known as Reyna Elena) and Constantine the Great.
The family-oriented Pilipino American Association of Tampa Bay, Inc. (PAAT) is the first ever Philippine organization in the Tampa Bay Area.
“Barrio Fiesta and Santacruzan 2016” Reyna Elena is the beautiful Keisha Abelgas, National American Miss Florida Teen 2015. She will be joined by Mrs. PAAT and Mrs. PhilFest 2016, Lani Krueger. This year’s emcee will be Emil “EM-C” Cruz.
