Fil-Am, was founded in 2006, with goals centered on service to the Filipino-Amerrican community, as well as the community at large. The FASC is officially registered as both a charity and as a non profit 501(c)4 organization, but it is also a cultural and social organization.
The FASC annually sponsors a multitude of social/cultural events for the Filipino-American community, which highlights Philippine culture thru dance, music, and song. Some of our well known events are our annual Philippine Independence Day celebration, Christmas Dinner Ball, Valentines Day Masquerade Ball, Fourth of July celebration, Spring Picnic, Halloween Party, Victorian Tea Party, Fundraising and Charity events, etc. In addition the FASC has fulfilled its humanitarian goals of donating goods, time, and money to various charities. It has gone that proverbial “extra mile,” in its quest to help those less fortunate.
The FASC has supported several worthy American organizations, but has never forgotten our “kababayan,” countrymen. The FASC has donated to the Dawn Center for abused women and children, the American Cancer Society, the Holy Ground Shelter for the homeless, the Philippine Relief Fund, the Philippine Disaster Fund, the Hernando – Pasco Hospice, the Hospice Children’s Bereavement Camp, People Helping People, etc. When disasters hit the Philippines, such as typhoon “Ondoy” in Luzon, the “Earthquake 2012” in the Visayan Islands, and typhoon “Pablo 2012” in Davao, the FASC immediately donated food goods directly to the disaster area. When a local homeless shelter in Pasco County informed us that the children living in their shelter had no Christmas presents, the FASC sprang into action, donating a really nice Christmas present to each child in the shelter! The FASC volunteers have also worked in several local “soup kitchens” for the poverty stricken.
