The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. invites you to be part of Flores de PhilFest, a stunning celebration of grace, beauty, and heritage inspired by the beloved Santacruzan tradition.
Santacruzan is a revered Filipino cultural and religious tradition that takes the form of a grand procession, typically held in May as part of the Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May) celebrations. It honors Reyna Elena and Emperor Constantine in their legendary search for the Holy Cross.
The event features a beautiful parade of muses, known as sagalas, who represent biblical and historical figures. Each sagala is dressed in an elegant gown, often accompanied by an escort, as they walk beneath elaborately decorated arches adorned with flowers. The highlight of the procession is the Reyna Elena, symbolizing Saint Helena, the mother of Constantine the Great, who is credited with discovering the True Cross.
Beyond its religious roots, Santacruzan has evolved into a celebration of beauty, grace, and Filipino heritage, blending faith with cultural pageantry. Today, it is a significant part of Filipino festivals and is widely celebrated both in the Philippines and among Filipino communities worldwide.
This year’s Reyna Elena at PhilFest 2025 will be Beth Villanueva, Mrs. PhilFest 2024, and we are searching for muses to join this spectacular parade.
