Padayaw – Leyte Dance Theatre
The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. welcomes back the sensational Leyte Dance Theatre in “Padayaw”, a dance showcase featuring the beauty of Philippine culture as LDT continues the legacy of its founder, Maestro Jesus “Jess” de Paz. This show will be held at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center’s Grand Sampaguita Ballroom on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 3:00 PM. This will also be PCFI’s Philippine Independence Day offering in lieu of the Philippine Independence Day Celebration scheduled on the same date.
“Padayaw” is Leyte Dance Theatre’s production offering for its 2023 USA tour. The term is derived from “Padayon sa Pagsayaw”, meaning continue dancing. The last time that group visited the Tampa Bay Area was in April of 2018, when it presented “Salida”. Since then, Maestro Jess unfortunately passed away and the pandemic happened.
Having toured the US eight times and having been in other countries, earning numerous international awards, the Leyte Dance Theatre has the right to claim as one of the dance authorities in the Philippines to date. All the recognition acquired through the years of performance in various and major cultural centers in the Philippines and abroad, and even in the remotest town or “barrio” are testimonies to the excellence it pursue in the field of dance.
Admission to LDT’s “Padayaw” is $30 General Admission, and $75 VIP reserved seating. Sponsorships and playbill advertising oportunities are also available.
