PISTAHAN – A New Exhibit at PhilFest 2013
Festivals and are as important to Filipinos as rice. Festivities are held to celebrate bountiful harvests, to ask for rain, to honor saints and historical events. Wikipedia lists no less than twenty of these annually recurring celebrations all over the Philippines. It is just apt to present an exhibit about these Philippine festivals right at PhilFest 2013!
Starting a day earlier, the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. will present “PISTAHAN”, an exhibit about Philippine festivals from Thursday to Sunday, April 4-7, 2013 at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center from 10 AM to 5 PM. Chaired by PCFI Board member Olive Santiano and with the participation of PCFI member organizations, the exhibit will feature various festivals celebrated in the Philippines like the Ati-atihan, Penafrancia and others.
The exhibit will also feature performances by talented Filipino-American artists in the area.
Entrance fee at PhilFest will include access to “PISTAHAN” but the exhibit will be free to the public on Thursday, April 4. The Bayanihan Arts and Events Center is located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL.
For more information, please contact Olive Santiano at (727) 734-7022 or the BAEC office at (813) 925-1232 or visit the PCFI website at www.pcfitampa.org.
