Tanghalang Pambata 2014 Children’s Talent Competition

The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. is now accepting applications to “Tanghalang Pambata 2014” Children’s Talent Competition to be held during PhilFest on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 1:00PM at the Sinagtala Theater of the Philippine Cultural Enrichment Complex (PhilFest Grounds) located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626.

This competition has been recently won by very talented Filipino-American children like Amanda Puyot and Carissa Chanrasmi from Pinellas Park, Florida and in 2013 by Brandon Cantilang from Georgia.

Contest Rules

PhilFest’s “Tanghalang Pambata 2014” is open to any Filipino and Filipino-American between 5 and 15 years old who wants to show any talent of his or her choice.

Contestant must not have won first prize in any previous PhilFest “Tanghalang Pambata” competition.

Each contestant must provide his/her own props, musical instrument or music accompaniment (preferably on a CD).  Please label music properly with the contestants name and the track number to be played during performance. This should be submitted to the competition coordinator at the Sinagtala Theater backstage one hour before competition time. Not submitting on time may disqualify the contestant.

Contestants are allowed to use Tagalog, English or Taglish as language during performance.   Contestants will be judged according to the following criteria: Delivery (25%), Proficiency in the Chosen Talent (25%), Originality (25%) and Audience Impact (25%) for a total of 100%.  The decision of the panel of judges is final.

Cash and other valuable prizes will be awarded to the winners and runner-ups:

First Prize: $500 | Second prize: $300 | Third Prize: $200

Contestants will NOT be provided with complimentary passes or special privileges to the festival.
