UP Concert Chorus and Nanette Inventor in Tampa
Here are photos from the recent “Chorus and Laughter” featuring the University of the Philippines Concert Chorus and Nanette Inventor. The concert was held at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center on Friday, July 8, 2016.
The University of the Philippines Concert Chorus, also known as “Korus”, was on a tour of the Americas (US, Canada, Colombia and Ecuador). The UP Concert Chorus was conducted by Jai Sabas Aracama. During the week’s stay in Tampa, the group also performed at Disney Springs in Orlando. They also sang at the masses at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in West Tampa and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Ybor City.
Nanette Inventor, who is a UP Concert Chorus alumnus herself, is a singer, actress and comedienne. From chorus member to professional back-up singer in “The Filipina”, she also established herself as a radio and television commercial artist and eventually became popular as “Doña Maria Leonila Evaporada Casinday Viuda de Ford” otherwise known as “Doña Buding”.
Having Nanette Inventor and the UP Concert Chorus in Tampa was a project of the Philippine Cultural Foundation’s “Visiting Artist Series” which featured exceptional artists from all around the world . This presentation was attended by more than three hundred and fifty guests which was easily accommodated by the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center’s ample space. The repertoire composed of choreographed Philippine folk and popular songs and American tunes. Nanette Inventor also presented a 45-minute stand up comedy solo.
