Glimpses of the Philippines
The Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc. (PCFI) presents “Glimpses of the Philippines” at the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center on Sunday, November 5, 2023, starting at 3:00 PM.
This annual cultural presentation spotlights the Philippine Performing Arts Company, Inc. (PPAC) and Indak Pambata (Children Steps), along with special participation of the Philippine Choral Group and the Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble. All the performing groups are cultural arms of the Philippine Cultural Foundation, Inc.
Ticket pricing are at $50 for VIP Seating, $20 for General Admission, and $10 for Students with ID, available for purchase at the event’s entrance.
“Glimpses of the Philippines” will offer a captivating array of Philippine folk dances, ranging from the Mountain Provinces of Northern Luzon to the Spanish Era, the island of Mindanao, and lively rural town fiesta dances. This gala represents a fresh chapter with new choreographers and dancers, featuring Ren Candelario and Kamille Janess for PPAC and Judy Sibayan for Indak Pambata. It’s also the company’s debut gala at their home base, the Bayanihan Arts and Events Center. Connie Chanrasmi directs the Philippine Choral Group, and Nhick Ramiro Pacis guides the Musikong Kawayan Bamboo Ensemble.
The event promises an afternoon filled with entertainment through Philippine folk music, songs, and dances, catering to families.
Proceeds from the event will contribute to new costumes, accessories, and props for the performers, and support the Barangay Rehearsal Hall Project—an enclosure renovation of the Barangay Pavilion at PCFI’s PhilFest Grounds, intended as a future rehearsal space for all cultural arms of the Foundation. This initiative has been kick-started through a matching Cultural Facilities grant from the Florida Department of State Division of Arts and Culture. PCFI is also supported by Hillsborough Arts Council.
The Bayanihan Arts and Events Center is conveniently located at 14301 Nine Eagles Drive, Tampa, FL 33626.
